Well, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning; which is supposed to mean 6 more weeks of winter.
The question now is whether it will be 6 more weeks like this (OK in my book) or 6 weeks of "real" winter. I'm honestly not sure what I'd prefer... never thought I'd be disappointed not to see snow! |

Our first weekend at the opening of the Kingston Winter Farmers Market (at the Old Dutch Church) and the Rhinebeck Winter Farmers Market (in the Village Hall) were both a great success!
This year is the first for the Kingston Market and it was great to see the support of the local community being represented by the huge numbers that came out last Saturday. While there were plenty of new faces, we saw quite a few of our regulars too.
Returning to the Rhinebeck Market on Sundays for the what...third? fourth? year was great as well. The community continues to grow and be supportive of our local farmers/growers/craftspeople. Busy, busy, busy there too!
Remember that these winter markets are only every *other* weekend, so the next one's won't be until the 17th and 18th! Hope to see you there!

With inquiries from as far away as India, Bosnia, and Lebanon and entries from Kansas, Manhattan, North Carolina and New Jersey, to right around the corner in New Paltz, Kingston, Ellenville and Saugerties the Picklefest really is international, and continues to grow in leap and bounds with thousands of visitors every year!
We're honored to be going back again this year, and we hope to see lots of old friends and meet new faces tomorrow (from 10-5)

Reporter, Blogger and general Food-guy Peter Barrett visited us at the farm towards the end of summer and wrote an article about us which appeared in the September issue of the Chronogram.
He spent a couple hours here, talked with the boss and the guys on the farm and wrote a generally through, well-rounded article. Go here: http://www.chronogram.com/issue/2011/9/Food+%26+Drink/The-Other-Red-Meat?page=1 to read the full thing on the Chronogram's website, or come see us at a market (we've got copies.)
